Judging Panel

An independent panel of recognised and expert judges, drawn from academia, business and broader related sectors will determine the winners of the Aviation Industry Awards.

Our focus is to deliver a balanced judging assessment from industry leaders who will bring their extensive knowledge, enthusiasm and expertise to the judging process ensuring that the winning entries are truly outstanding and worthy of receiving a trophy.

The panel is carefully selected to ensure the Awards judging process is fair and objective. The judges are bound by a strict confidentiality agreement and are required to declare any conflict of interest in entries over which they deliberate, in which case that entry will be reallocated. The integrity of this process lies at the very heart of all that we do.

Aidan Flanagan

Director of Airport Capacity & Operations, ACI EUROPE

Kyriakos Kourousis

Associate Professor, University of Limerick

Dr Kyriakos I. Kourousis is an Associate Professor in the School of Engineering at the University of Limerick. He has expertise in airworthiness, aircraft systems, metal plasticity and additive manufacturing. He is a Chartered Engineer (UK) and a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. VIEW MORE

Wayne Tyrrell

Senior Legal Advisor, Irish Aviation Authority

Having initially trained as a Cadet in the Military College in 1995, Wayne then completed a Flight Training Wings course with the Irish Air Corps and qualified as a pilot in 1997 and held a broad spectrum of appointments within the Irish Defence Forces in the areas of operations and law, including deployments with the United Nations in Liberia, Chad and Lebanon. Prior to retiring from the Air Corps Wayne held the appointments of head of risk management in Air Corps Headquarters and the Wing Commander over training. His work in the Irish Aviation Authority as the Senior Legal Advisor is principally involved with safety regulation and legislative drafting. VIEW MORE
