
United app upgrades redefine connection management
United Airlines has launched new personalised features in its mobile app aimed at removing friction from tight connections. Passengers at US hub airports now get countdowns to boarding, gate-to-gate walking directions, and real-time status updates tailored to their itineraries. The system also alerts travellers if ConnectionSaver, United’s AI tool that holds planes for connecting customers, has been activated.
During testing, 350,000 passengers used these features with a 98% success rate in making connections. For executives, this move signals a shift towards hyper-personalised digital travel experiences, blending AI and transparency to reduce missed flights and customer frustration. The upgrade also includes automated rebooking options for missed connections, multilingual support plans, and upcoming precise location tracking within airports.
