Weston Airport clears path for new search and rescue base

Stripe co-founder John Collison’s Weston Airport has secured approval to build a new SAR hangar, despite planning objections and a contrary inspector’s report. The hangar will house the Dublin search and rescue team, recently relocated from Dublin Airport after 27 years. Operated by Bristow, the new base marks a strategic shift in Ireland’s SAR infrastructure and boosts Weston’s growing aviation profile.
