Wayne Tyrrell Joins Judging Panel for Aviation Industry Awards 2025

The Aviation Industry Awards 2025 proudly welcomes Wayne Tyrrell, Senior Legal Advisor at the Irish Aviation Authority, to this year’s distinguished judging panel.

Wayne brings a wealth of expertise shaped by a distinguished career in the Irish Defence Forces, having initially trained as a Cadet at the Military College in 1995 before completing a Flight Training Wings course with the Irish Air Corps.

Qualifying as a pilot in 1997, he held a broad range of operational and legal appointments, including deployments with the United Nations in Liberia, Chad, and Lebanon. Prior to retiring from the Air Corps, Wayne served as Head of Risk Management in Air Corps Headquarters and Wing Commander over training, roles that cemented his reputation for operational leadership and strategic insight.

At the Irish Aviation Authority, Wayne now oversees safety regulation and legislative drafting, applying his operational experience and legal acumen to ensure the highest standards in Irish aviation.

As a member of the judging panel of the Aviation Industry Awards 2025, he will bring this perspective to evaluate entries, offering critical insight into what defines excellence, innovation, and leadership in the sector.

The 2025 Awards Gala will take place on Friday, 28 November, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry, uniting Ireland’s aviation community for an evening celebrating leadership, innovation, and operational excellence.

Categories for this year’s awards include Aviation Company of the Year, Outstanding Contribution to the Aviation Industry, Innovation in Safety and Risk Management Award, Aviation Leasing Achievement Award, Aviation CSR Achievement Award, and Aviation Rising Star Award, recognising the individuals and organisations driving progress across Ireland’s aviation sector.
