Vodafone pushes drone delivery limits with mobile network trials

Vodafone and Manna Air Delivery have demonstrated how drones can be safely piloted beyond visual line of sight using 4G connectivity. By integrating mobile network telemetry and aerial coverage data, they tracked a drone over two kilometres in Ireland, unlocking new possibilities for rapid home deliveries and commercial operations. 

With Europe’s commercial drone fleet set to almost double to 395,000 by 2030, this approach could underpin a safer, scalable air traffic management system. Vodafone’s vision combines terrestrial networks with future satellite integration to enable secure long-range drone tracking across borders, from urban deliveries to remote land surveys.
