Riga Airport partners with Incheon Aviation Academy to expand training capabilities

Riga Airport has formalised a strategic partnership with South Korea’s Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) through a memorandum of understanding, aimed at strengthening its RIX Academy training centre and boosting its international presence.

Chairperson of the Board of Riga Airport, Ms. Laila Odiņa, said, “This memorandum is a strategic step that will enable us to reinforce international cooperation and offer training programmes of the highest quality. By combining the European-standard expertise and experience of RIX Academy — an Airports Council International (ACI) accredited training centre — with the competencies of the Incheon Aviation Academy, we will gain new opportunities to export our knowledge to external markets and attract clients on a global scale.”

The MoU sets out extensive collaboration across multiple areas, including the joint development and implementation of new training programmes, instructor exchanges, competency development, promotion of training activities, and cooperation in human resource development. These initiatives aim to enhance the skill sets of aviation professionals and standardise training to meet global operational requirements.

RIX Academy, Riga Airport’s professional aviation training arm, currently offers over 160 programmes covering aviation security, ground handling, airfield operations, crisis management, and other operational areas.

The centre trains more than 15,000 specialists annually from Latvia and abroad and has been an ACI-accredited training centre since 2017. Its recent inclusion in the ACI Accredited Training Partners network in 2023 further underscores its commitment to delivering globally recognised courses and tailored training solutions for aviation companies.
