Global aviation services company Menzies Aviation has launched into-plane fuelling and fuel farm operations at Aberdeen International Airport, bringing its UK fuels network to 11 airports following a mobilisation completed in 75 days from the ground up.

According to Cargo Forwarder, full end-to-end fuel services commenced on 1 July 2026, covering fuel storage and distribution infrastructure through to into-plane fuelling. Menzies said the 75-day timeline required building a new team from scratch, training staff, rolling out operational systems and completing a smooth transition of fuel services at what it described as one of the UK's key energy hub airports.

Marco di Mario, executive vice president of fuels at Menzies Aviation, described the mobilisation as a remarkable accomplishment. "Mobilisations are among the most complex activities in our industry, requiring the right people, processes and safety culture to be in place from day one. Aberdeen is an important airport within the UK aviation network and a key gateway for the energy sector," he said, adding that Menzies looked forward to working with the airport, airlines and fuel partners to deliver safe and dependable services while investing in the long-term growth of its fuels business.

Daniel Anderson, airside operations manager at Aberdeen International Airport, welcomed Menzies to the role. "The safe and efficient management of fuel operations is essential to supporting the airlines and passengers who rely on Aberdeen International Airport every day," he said, expressing confidence in a seamless ongoing service.

Menzies Aviation is the world's largest independent aviation fuel services provider, with operations spanning three continents. The company oversees the full fuelling journey from receipt and storage through to aircraft delivery, supporting airlines in maintaining operational reliability while keeping airports and fuel suppliers compliant with regulatory requirements.

The Aberdeen launch adds to a fuels portfolio that continues to expand globally, with Menzies steadily building long-term relationships with airports and fuel suppliers across its international network. Aberdeen International Airport serves as a primary gateway for the North Sea energy sector, generating consistent demand for reliable aviation fuel services from operators supporting offshore energy operations alongside scheduled passenger services.
