Philippines-based low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific has renewed and expanded its unit load device management and maintenance agreement with Jettainer, adding the German ULD specialist's latest IoT tracking technology to an existing partnership that dates to 2020.

According to Aviation Business News, the expanded agreement will see Jettainer continue supplying a customised ULD fleet managed through its JettwareNG intelligent IT platform, while introducing a tracking solution combining LoRa and BLE technology with cellular-enabled units acting as mobile readers. Jettainer said the meshing technology creates a dynamic, self-expanding network designed to improve asset visibility, support more efficient ULD utilisation and reduce unnecessary repositioning.

The deal also includes the deployment of a dedicated on-site customer service manager to provide operational support across Cebu Pacific's network.

Javier Massot, chief operations officer of Cebu Pacific, said Jettainer had been a reliable and innovative partner throughout the carrier's growth journey. "Their consistent ULD availability, seamless operational integration and proactive support have helped us drive efficiency and reduce unnecessary ULD movements, supporting our sustainability efforts," he said.

Thorsten Riekert, chief sales officer of Jettainer, said innovative services combined with customer proximity were key priorities for the company as it sought to provide the best possible support to airline partners.

Cebu Pacific currently operates a fleet of 100 aircraft, including 14 Airbus A330neo widebodies, and continues to expand its domestic and international network while maintaining a significant air cargo presence in the Philippines.

The agreement reflects growing investment in digital ULD management across the aviation industry, as carriers seek to reduce equipment losses, lower repositioning costs and improve cargo handling efficiency across increasingly complex international networks.
