Aer Lingus launches nonstop Pittsburgh to Dublin service on four-times-weekly schedule

Irish carrier Aer Lingus has inaugurated nonstop service between Pittsburgh International Airport and Dublin, connecting the two cities with scheduled transatlantic service for the first time and expanding Aer Lingus's North American network to 24 routes from Ireland.

According to Blue Sky Pit, the route operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays on a year-round basis, with a brief pause in January and February. From Dublin, passengers can connect onward to Irish domestic destinations, UK regional cities including Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh, and major European hubs including Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris and Rome.

Reid Moody, chief strategy and planning officer at Aer Lingus, said the service strengthened the carrier's Dublin hub and provided seamless connections between North America, Ireland, the UK and Europe. "Building on our partnership with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and with Pitt Panthers playing in the 2027 Aer Lingus College Football Classic, this service further builds on our ties to the region and our long-standing connection with Pittsburgh," he said.

Pittsburgh International Airport CEO Christina Cassotis described Aer Lingus as a strong partner for the city's growing market to Ireland and beyond, noting the depth of business and ancestral ties between the Pittsburgh region and Ireland.

The route is projected to generate an economic impact of approximately $23 million (€21.2 million) per year and support 156 jobs, according to modelling by EDRG.

Pittsburgh's connections to Ireland include the Rooney family, owners of the Pittsburgh Steelers, who trace their ancestry to Newry in Northern Ireland. The team played the first-ever NFL regular-season game in Dublin in September 2025.
